Gary Thompson CEO of Tech Central, the Saudi based emerging technology training and consulting company operating in the MENA region and Principal Consultant for their consulting division, Intelligent Automation Advisors. Aligned to Big Innovation Centre Middle East, Gary is also a senior advisor to BICME, driving the development of the Emerging Technologies Councils in MENA Programme of events and community platform deployment.
Gary relocated to the Middle East 12 years ago and has been living and working in Region as an Advisor, Consultant and Program Director in enterprise wide organizational and digital transformation – leading Commercial, Industrial, Banking and Semi-Government clients through journeys embedding operational excellence and intelligent automation enablement into their day to day activities.
Prior to moving to the MENA Region his work had taken him across Europe, North America and Asia working with global and regional organizations including Barclays Bank – leading the transformation of AML activities and implementation of AI enabled account monitoring software, LafargeHolcim – leading the development of centralized support services for Europe and implementing AI enabled OCR and Avis Budget Group – developing and delivering a new end to end transaction journey through ERP upgrade.
He was also involved in the start-up, development and ultimate sale of two highly successful companies in Europe and North America including a software company responsible for the development of the world’s first traceability tool for major program requirements tracking, working alongside Dr. Richard Stevens, ex Head of Methods for the European Space Agency.
Gary attended university in Sheffield, England majoring in Finance and Accounting and was bestowed Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in the UK.
He is a member of the Global Advisory Board for the Shared Services & Outsourcing Network (SSON), a regular speaker and workshop facilitator at Shared Service, OPEX, Process Automation, RPA & AI conferences in the Middle East and an author of white papers and workshops on the use and development of shared services and outsourcing in the region.View all
